Activity
To the east from Nakra in the mountains, after approximately 2 hours hiking on the ancient silk-road pass we will enter to the place called “Tsaleri”. Tsaleri is an abandoned village, that had its last permanent inhabitants late in the 18th century, but the life was flourishing here mostly until the 16th century before deadly black disease took most of the life from here.
It is an interesting side to see, ruins of medieval local architecture mixed with some small farms that people established from the nearby villages.
Afterwards we go to Kichkhldashi. Here the life is not completely abandoned, Valeri and his family still live in this remote place. They will have lunch break with traditional Svanetian family food and drinks.
Arriving in the final destination of our day, village Pari.
Trail is around 8-10 hours and 21 km. all over
transfer from Pari to Etseri and hike Etseri-Mazeri (around 6 hours and 16 km.) We will hike up Bach pass (22430m. above the sea) and continue to “Meziri” mountain. It is north-eastern of Etseri. Here we see the small church and the lake; both are named of “Meziri” that was just like the angel protector in ancient (before Christianity) Svan believes. Meziri was protecting the families that where not aggressive to the surrounding animals and especially to those families that could be loyal to the snakes and the lizards living nearby their houses.
We have lunch break here on the stunning view of Laila and Ushba mountains.
After arriving to the final destination village ოფ Becho, we will be transferred by minibus to Mestia.
Free evening in Mestia.
Visiting Svaneti main museum in Mestia. The museum is recognized as Europes one of the best in 2016 and enjoys high popularity among all museums of Georgia. Afterwards we will visit Lagami 8th century church.
Next there is transfer to TeTnuldi ski resort from there we do short (2/3 hours) walk to “Adishi” in the afternoon.
Overnight in Adishi.
We start Hiking from Adishi, following the adishura river to its norther sides and after nearly an hour and half flat and relaxing hiking we will see, the giant glacier (Adishi glacier) this is where the river starts from its self.
We use the horses here to cross a small but fast and cold mountain river and continue to hike up “Chkhutnieri” pass (2722 m.)
Lunch on the top of the mountain with the view of most of the highest mountains like Ushba, Tetnuldi and Laila.
We are going down to the left ridge and after 2-3 hours hiking arrive to Iprali village from where we will be transferred to ”Ushguli”
Some call Ushguli an open-air museum, that’s because of its unique historical heritage and unusual shapes of medieval architecture. The village is also recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site and located on 2300 m. above the sea level. This is giving the village also the status of highest permanently inhabited place in Europe.
After sightseeing we ha have lunch in Ushguli and overnight in Mestia.
